3 Quick Apply Part-time 2 days ago Full Job Description The position of Code Enforcement Officer II is a journey level position capable of working independently and successfully carrying out all assigned code enforcement duties.
Proficiency at this level will include knowledge off all codes to be enforced, the expert use of available databases, computer literacy and the ability to assist, train, and work effectively with all co-workers.
This is a part-time, as-needed position and work hours could vary depending on assignment.

We are currently considering candidates in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, Fresno, and Orange in California SUMMARY Under the direction of the Senior Code Enforcement Officer, conducts all code enforcement duties at a journey level of proficiency, handles more difficult cases, provides training as assigned, assists in training new code enforcement officers and assists in all other related matters as assigned by the Senior Code Enforcement Officer.
RESPONSIBILITIES Provides training for Code Enforcement Officer I as directed by the Senior Code Enforcement Officer.
Works independently, effectively and efficiently to resolve more difficult code enforcement cases.
Provides accurate and timely record keeping for assigned code enforcement related matters.
Communicates effectively throughout the chain of command on code enforcement related matters.
Is prepared to testify as an expert witness on code enforcement legal proceedings.
Maintains and improves assigned database programs and materials as needed.
Maintains and provides safekeeping for company property and records.
Adheres to all jurisdiction and company standard operating procedures.
Perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS A high school diploma or GED equivalent, preferably supplemented by completion of an accredited technical school or college level program in code enforcement, building inspection, plan review, police sciences or a closely related field.
Experience as a Code Enforcement Officer I for a minimum of three (3) years, with additional experience in the building trades, planning, police services or other law enforcement profession considered.
Must possess a Basic Code Enforcement Officer Certification, as represented by CACEO or equal.
And within one year of placement into this position must possess an Intermediate Code Enforcement Officer Certification.
Within two (2) years of placement into this position must obtain certification as a Certified Code Enforcement Officer.
Certification as a Senior Planner (APA) or equal will also be considered.
Must be able to carry out the job requirements as a Code Enforcement Officer II.
Possession and maintenance of a valid Class C California driver's license is required.
Have a satisfactory driving record.
WORKING CONDITIONS Requires extensive physical exertion during on-site inspections.
Will require physical flexibility and dexterity, including the ability to continually stand, bend, stoop, reach, crouch and climb.
Will drive to job sites and to visit clients.
