Position:Instructional Aide
Contract:183 Days
Supervisor:Site Administrator
Range: BB
Job Description:
Under the direction of the Site Administrator and Classroom Teacher, the Instructional Aide will work with individual and small groups of children; primarily in the areas of reading, English, language arts and mathematics, as well as other academic subjects.
Qualifications:
1.Education:High School diploma or equivalent and is willing to participate in professional growth activities.
2.Experience:Past experience working with children in an educational setting.
3.Knowledge:A basic understanding of the activities and development of an elementary/secondary classroom and have the ability to work closely with children and adults.
4. Ability to:Must have the ability to speak, read, and write in English in a job related setting.
Bilingual skills, which benefit the District, may be desired.
5. Required:Must pass the Cooperative Organization for the Development of Employee Section Procedures (CODESP) or have 48 units of college or an AA degree or meet the No Child Left Behind ( NCLB)requirements. Required Fingerprinting and TB test.
Typical Duties:
1.Provides an appropriate language model for the children in English.
2.Supervise student activities to assure that students can operate in a safe, orderly environment, both in and out of the classroom.
3.Provide one-to-one assistance to students as well as work with groups of students in enrichment activities as requested by the teacher.
4.Be able to lift, carry, and distribute supplies as needed.
5.Be knowledgeable and capable of operating technological equipment including copy machines, projectors, video cassette recorders, digital video recorders, Camcorders, and basic computer use.
6.Help keep classroom organized and neat.
7.Assist students with written and oral assignments by editing student work, conference with students, working in learning center activities, listening to oral reading and checking comprehension, administering short tests and quizzes, and other instructional tasks requested by the teacher.

8.Review the learning objectives of the day as well as general content of the lesson, which the student may not understand.
9.Maintains confidentiality regarding students and school records.
10.Performs all other duties as assigned that reasonably relates to regularly assigned duties in relation to those fixed and prescribed duties developed by the Governing Board to the individual employee's job classification. (Ed. Code Section 45109 and 45110)

Sufficient physical ability, strength, mobility, stamina to climb, bend, stretch, stand, kneel, walk, stoop, extend legs, stamina to lift, carry, push or pull objects, which weigh 50 pounds.
Physical ability to sit for extended periods of time.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
